Stare at a Jose Di Gregorio mural long enough and your eyes start playing tricks on you. Honestly. His line work is so absurdly sharp, so mathematically tight, that you’d swear a digital plotter mapped it out—yet every geometric weave, iridescent gradient, and celestial nightscape is rendered completely by hand.

The effect triggers a visual trip akin to palinopsia, those persistent, ghost-like afterimages that trail across your vision when you blink. But beneath the hypnotic eye candy lies a distinctly metaphysical pull. He’s intentionally nudging the viewer off the physical floor, steering us away from surface-level reality toward far quieter, heavier questions about existence itself.

This level of precision doesn't just happen. Di Gregorio has been putting brush to surface for over a quarter-century, 15 of those years as a full-time hustle, and you can feel that crazy muscle memory in every stroke. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he honed his craft across two continents, studying at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis before heading over to Brittany, France, for a stint at the Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art.

These days, he calls Sacramento, California home, though his work is scattered all over the map. You’ll find his murals and paintings everywhere from big-ticket events like Art Basel Miami to gallery walls and street corners in LA, New York, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, and Indy, not to mention international stops throughout Mexico, Canada, France, Sweden, Finland, and Kosovo. It's rare for art to feel both hyper-calculated and deeply spiritual, but somehow, he walks that exact razor's edge.
