If you've spent any time around Downtown Brooklyn lately, you've seen their work—even if you didn't know the name behind it. The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is a local non-profit development outfit, and frankly, they’re the neighborhood's biggest cheerleader. They push the whole district to stand out as a legit destination for pretty much everything: shopping, business, higher ed, culture, and residential life.
To keep the gears turning, they manage three distinct Business Improvement Districts—the MetroTech BID, the Fulton Mall Improvement Association, and the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID. It’s a lot of ground to cover.
Their daily grind? A bit of everything. On one hand, they’re wooing fresh companies while giving long-time local spots the backing to stay afloat. On the other, they’re building out walkable public spaces and vibrant streetscapes that actually encourage people to hang out. Add in their constant push to highlight local cultural assets and foster genuine civic pride, and it's clear the goal is simple: make the district feel like an authentic community, rather than just another dense transit hub.
